Frequently Asked Questions

Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of clients through the evaluation process. We have compiled the questions that have been frequently asked hoping that it will help answer your question as well!

Which type of evaluation report should I request?

Typically, a general evaluation report is suitable for students with only a high school education applying as a first year university student in the U.S. and those requesting an evaluation for employment or immigration purposes.  Students with some post-secondary college or university credit who are seeking transfer of previous coursework to a U.S. institution should request a course-by-course evaluation.  Students who have completed a bachelor’s or higher degree in their home country and are applying to graduate school in the U.S. (master’s, PhD or professional program) should check with the program to which they are applying to determine which type of report is required.

How much does an evaluation cost?

The cost of the evaluation depends on what type of evaluation you need. A general evaluation report for one credential is $90 and a course-by-course evaluation is $180. There is a nominal fee for additional credentials.  GPA is always included at no additional cost.  Each type of evaluation includes two copies of the report, completed within 5 – 7 business days after receiving all of your materials.

Please see this page for detailed information regarding general and course-by-course evaluation reports.

What does the evaluation fee include?

The cost of evaluation includes 2 evaluation reports – typically one sent to you, the applicant, and one sent to the institution or employer to which you are applying (unless other requests are made) sent by regular mail.

What documents do I need to submit?

Our documentation requirements depend on which country you were educated in. Please see this page for detailed requirements per your country of education.

Can I submit or upload scanned copies of my credentials?

We are only unable to accept scans for evaluation purposes if we are able to verify them directly with the issuing institution, ministry or exam board.  If you are unsure whether your credentials can be verified, please email us and we will let you know whether we have a verification resource for your credential.

What is the process for getting my credentials evaluated?

1. Submit our online application for evaluation (click on the orange APPLY NOW button at the top of this page)

2. Pay for evaluation services using credit or debit card (submitted with the online application form)

3. Submit your academic credentials per our documentation requirements (found under Services – Required Documentation)

How can I request extra copies of my evaluation report?

We keep all evaluations and credentials on file for 5 years.  If your evaluation was completed within this time frame, you may request additional evaluation reports at any time for $20 each.  Simply indicate on the application form the number of copies and where you would like the copies sent.  Extra copy requests are generally completed within 1-2 business days.

How long will the evaluation take?

Our standard turnaround time is 5 – 7 business days (excluding weekends – Saturday/Sunday – and holidays).  You may request a 3-day or 1-day rush evaluation for an additional fee.

Can I submit my original educational credentials myself?

Part of our job is to verify the authentictiy of academic credentials and, whenever possible, documents should be sent to us directly by your degree-granting institution, exam board or ministry.  Alternately, if your credentials can be verified (i.e. through an exam board results portal, or institutional database), you may upload a copy of your credentials with your application form, or email them to us on Documents@OneEarthEvaluations.org.  If you have your original academic credentials physically with you in the U.S., you may choose to submit these to us by postal mail, or by making an appointment to bring them in person to our Madison, WI office.  Please note that One Earth reserves the right to contact your institution, ministry or exam board to verify any credentials not sent to us directly by your degree-granting authority.  Email us with any questions prior to submitting your documents to avoid delays due to submission of improper documents.

Will you return my original academic documents?

Yes, we will return original academic documents submitted by students upon request.  Simply check the appropriate box on the application form.  If certified mail/courier service with tracking is not specifically requested and paid for, all documents will be sent back by regular mail (no tracking), so we strongly recommend selecting the appropriate mail service.  Documents sent to us directly from an institution or exam board become our property and will not be returned.

Do you require English translations of my academic documents?

Yes, all documents should be submitted in the original language of issuance; documents not officially issued in English must be accompanied by word-for-word English translations.  In most cases, you may prepare the English translations yourself, as long as they are literal, word-for-word and in the same general format as the original for ease of comparison.

Will my One Earth evaluation report be accepted by all colleges/universities or employers in the U.S.?

One Earth evaluation reports are accepted by many colleges/universities and employers in the U.S.; however each college/university or employer in the U.S. is autonomous and may have their own unique requirements.    If you are unsure whether One Earth evaluation reports are accepted by your intended institution or employer, please check with the institution or employer or contact us for further information.

What if I don’t agree with your assessment of my credentials and want to appeal the evaluation?

Our staff has many years of experience and professional training in comparative education and international credential evaluation and evaluation reports are completed using sound research and recognized relevant resources.  However, if you feel that there has been an error in calculation or interpretation of your credentials, you may request – in writing – a re-evaluation, stating your specific reasons for the request and providing supporting documents or evidence as needed.
