Q: Which type of evaluation report should I request?
A: Typically, a general evaluation report is suitable for students with only a high school education applying as a first year university student in the U.S. and those requesting an evaluation for employment or immigration purposes. Students with some post-secondary college or university credit who are seeking transfer of previous coursework to a U.S. institution should request a course-by-course evaluation. Students who have completed a bachelor’s or higher degree in their home country and are applying to graduate school in the U.S. (master’s, PhD or professional program) should check with the program to which they are applying to determine which type of report is required.
Q: What does the evaluation fee include?
A: The cost of evaluation includes 2 evaluation reports – typically one sent to you, the student, and one sent to the institution or employer to which you are applying (unless other requests are made) sent by regular mail.
Q: I have education from more than one institution - do I have to pay per credential?
A: No - each of your educational institutions / qualifications will be listed on the same evaluation report. The cost is per evaluation report, not per credential.
Q: How can I request extra copies of my evaluation report?
A: You may request additional evaluation reports at any time for $20 each. Simply indicate on the application form the number of copies and where you would like the copies sent, or contact us by email to make the request after your initial report has been completed.
Q: How long will the evaluation take?
A: Our standard turnaround time is 5 – 7 business days (excluding weekends – Saturday/Sunday – and holidays). You may request a 3-day or 1-day rush evaluation for an additional fee.
Q: Can I submit my original educational credentials myself?
A: In most cases, yes, as long as they are original or official, issued by and stamped and/or sealed by the issuing institution. Please check the instructions page of our website for specific information regarding documents required for your country. Whenever possible, documents should be issued, stamped and sealed by the issuing institution and sent to us directly; in some cases One Earth requires credentials be sent directly to us from the institution or examining board by regular mail. Please note that One Earth reserves the right to contact your school or examining board to verify any credentials not sent to us directly by the institution or examining board. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions prior to mailing your documents to avoid delays due to submission of improper documents.
Q: Will you return my original academic documents?
A: Yes, we will return original academic documents submitted by students upon request. Simply check the appropriate box on the application form. If courier service is not specifically requested and paid for, all documents will be sent back by regular mail. Documents sent to us directly by an institution or examining board become our property and will not be returned.
Q: Do you require English translations of my academic documents?
A: Yes, all documents should be submitted in the original language of issuance; documents not officially issued in English must be accompanied by word-for-word English translations.
Q: Will my One Earth evaluation report be accepted by all colleges/universities or employers in the U.S.?
A: One Earth evaluation reports are accepted by many colleges/universities and employers in the U.S.; however each college/university or employer in the U.S. is autonomous and may have their own unique requirements. If you are unsure whether One Earth evaluation reports are accepted by your intended institution or employer, please check with the institution or employer or contact us for further information.
Q: What if I don’t agree with your assessment of my credentials and want to appeal the evaluation?
A: Our staff has many years of experience and professional training in comparative education and international credential evaluation and evaluation reports are completed using sound research and recognized, relevant resources. However, if you feel that there has been an error in calculation or interpretation of your credentials, you may request – in writing – a re-evaluation, stating your specific reasons for the request and providing supporting documents or evidence as needed.
